OCD7 Clarifies: 40 houses Damaged by ‘Buhawi’

The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) 7 Wednesday clarified that only 40 houses and not 55 or 70, as erroneously reported in the media, were damaged by a buhawi or tornado which hit Talisay City and Minglanilla town yesterday.

OCD 7, in a radio report, said the number of damaged houses was based on their assessment. Three persons were also said to be injured in the incident. The tornado damaged the rows of houses in Deca Homes in Barangay Tungkil, Minglanilla including some houses and a feed mill warehouse in the adjacent village of Calajoan when said tornado hit these areas at past 2 pm yesterday.

Moreover, houses and three classrooms in Barangay Mohon, Talisay City, were also damaged after the same tornado made a quick sweep in the area past 3 pm.
