Nueva Vizcaya Observes ‘Pulot-Plastic’ Day
Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (PNA) — Various local government units and civic organizations in the province Friday conducted a “Pulot-Plastic” (synthetic waste gathering) as part of its celebration for the Environmental Awareness Month this month.
Delia Agunoy, solid waste management coordinator, said the activity is one way of instilling the value of proper solid waste management in the 275 barangays of the province.
“This also intends to clean-up our communities with synthetic materials that may clog our waterways which can cause swelling and flooding of rivers and canals,” she said.
Agunoy also said the 275 barangays of the province will be evaluated based on their Solid Waste Management Program(SWMP) compliance and sustainability.
The celebration of the province’s Environmental Awareness Month, now on its third year aims to drum up support and participation in protecting the environment.
The yearly Environmental Awareness Month celebration in the province has been declared as such through a provincial ordinance. (PNA) FFC/SCD/BME
