Nokia Shows Strong Profitability In 2015
Nokia’s operating profit (non-IFRS) grew remarkably in the fourth quarter and the whole year of 2015, announced the Finnish mobile technology company in its interim report released on Thursday.
According to Nokia, its operating profit was 734 million euros in the fourth quarter of 2015, soaring by 55 percent from the previous quarter and 46 percent from the same quarter of 2014.
In the whole year of 2015, Nokia’s operating profit was 1.95 billion euros, increasing significantly by 22 percent on year-on-year basis.
The company’s net sales was 3.61 billion euros in the fourth quarter last year, rising by 3 percent on quarter-on-quarter basis; in the whole year of 2015, it was 12.50 billion euros, increasing by 6 percent from the previous year.
The profitability was attributed mainly to the performance of Nokia Technologies, which gained 322 million euros of profit in the fourth quarter and 720 million euros in the whole year of 2015, increasing considerably by 318 percent and 102 percent respectively compared to 2014.
The steep rise in profitability was based on strong licensing growth including a contribution from the arbitration award related to the licensing agreement with its competitor Samsung, according to Rajeev Suri, President and CEO of Nokia. (PNA/Xinhua) RMA/RSM
