No Signs of Cancer
There were no signs that former Cebu City south district congressman Tomas R. Osmeña’s cancer has returned, according to his wife Margot.
The couple traveled to Houston, Texas two weeks ago for the former lawmaker’s checkup at the M.D. Andersons Cancer Center.
Margot said her husband told his doctors that he lost in the May 13 mayoralty race because his political opponents spread information that he is dying.
But the doctors, according to Margot, assured him that he is already in good health.
Tomas lost to re-electionist Mayor Michael Rama by over 6,000 votes.
He then filed an election protest together with his runningmate, former vice mayor Joy Augustus Young.
Young lost to now Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella by only 184 votes.
In 2008, the then city mayor underwent an operation at the M.D. Andersons Cancer Center to remove his urinary bladder because of cancer. Last week , Osmeña and his wife celebrated their birthdays at a mall in Mandaue City. The event was attended by close to 1,000 people, including barangay captains, councilmen, ward leaders, supporters, police and government officials.
