No Security Threat on SONA Day – PNP
Manila – No security threat has been monitored this coming sixth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Benigno S. Aquino III on July 27, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ricardo Marquez said on Wednesday
Marquez said they have not monitored any security threat on Aquino’s last SONA on July 27 based on Intenlligence report of the PNP.
For his part, Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo, head of the PNP Directorate for Intelligence, said the police’ intelligence community is “continuously monitoring all possible threat to the SONA.
He added that intelligence reports showed no possible threats on SONA day and assure the public that they have nothing to worry about.
Marquez also said that the PNP is 99.99 percent ready to ensure peace and order and safety during the sixth SONA of President Aquino ths coming Monday.
Marquez said that the PNP started preparing for the SONA as early as three months ago.
He said that they will have schedule of last meeting with other government agencies and they will also invite the Presidential Security Group (PSG) to show that they are already prepared and coordinated on their own security plans.
He noted that during the SONA day, he will be inside the House of Representatives (HOR) and the commander of NCRPO will be there at the command post near the HOR.
Marquez said the NCRPO at the directorial staff has been implementing plan and have convened several meetings to fine tune the security plan. (PNA) CTB/CLTC
