No Power Outage During Dry Spell, May Polls: NGCP-Visayas
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) in the Visayas has assured adequate power supply for the duration of the mild El Niño and during the May 13 mid-term elections.
Officials of NGCP-Visayas gave the assurance during the “Kapihan sa PIA” (Philippine Information Agency) forum here Wednesday.
Maria Rosette Martinez, NGCP-Visayas Corporate Communications and Public Affairs officer, said there will be no power outage during the hot season, especially during the electoral process next month.
“We are not affected by the El Niño. We have adequate and reliable power supply to last the dry spell,” she said.
To really ensure that there will be no power interruption, Martinez said the NGCP has begun its house-to-house public safety campaign in the region.
She said the NGCP has already started making its rounds in the barangays or villages, particularly those near its transmission lines.
“It’s important to educate the public in terms of safety. That’s why we’re doing this information drive to prevent incidents that may disrupt our power transmission,” Martinez said.
The NGCP also plans to conduct safety awareness campaigns in schools and likewise coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices for its information-dissemination drives.
“We have also utilized the social media in the presentation of our safety messages,” Martinez added.
