The Cebu City Health Department (CCHD) announced through an official statement on their official Facebook page that they will no longer post daily coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) monitoring and updates as per recommendation by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on July 6, 2020.

The IATF recommendation on the immediate halt of the release of daily COVID-19 reports in the city is for avoiding confusion with the public as they are still trying to synchronize all the data with the Department of Health (DOH).

“The data we post each day are actual cases validated by our contact tracing teams but to avoid causing confusion to the public and to harmonize the data being presented, we urge the public to refer to the DOH-7 Official Facebook Page instead,” the statement reads.

The latest COVID-19 monitoring in Cebu City was on Sunday, July 5 where the city recorded 152 new cases, 1 new death, and 90 recoveries.

As of July 5, Cebu City is still the epicenter of the disease in the country with 6,142 total cases, of which 2,688 are active, 221 total deaths, and 3,233 total recoveries. (MLC)
