‘No More Heavy Drama for TV5’

TV5 executives introduce here today new programs veering away from the usual telenovelas, usually occupying primetime slots.

Following the highly successful and historic “Happy sa 2015: Philippine New Year Countdown” which marked TV5’s impressively festive and spectacular 2015 grand welcome, the Kapatid Network continues its happy streak with 10 new program offerings that start the year with lighter, more pleasing and positively entertaining shows this first quarter.

“Happy Wife Happy Life” with Danica Sotto-Pingris et.al. is among these new programs for Q1. Airing from Monday to Friday, it gives viewers a peek into the perks and challenges of being partners in life of the country’s basketball superstars.

Melvin Sixto C. Nubla, head of network marketing, said that they are veering totally from heavy dramas. “There is drama still but this is already incorporated into our comedy programs like Mac and Chiz (Sunday nights) starring Derek Ramsey, Empoy Marquez, Bianca King, among others. Di naman maiiwasan may drama talaga yan mixed with comedy,” Nubla shares.

He emphasizes that fixing the grid is also to prevent going head on with other networks, as TV5 recognizes that there can be no real number one or number two in this industry, but that there has to be specific audiences to cater to such as the male viewers who have sports on top of their preferred viewing list.

“We are now clear on what to provide, we have acknowledged the demand, and our repositioning is foremost to promote a happy culture among our viewers,” Nubla added.
