No Filipino Passenger in Taiwan Airliner that Crashed Wednesday-DFA

Manila (PNA) — The Department of Foreign Affairs on Thursday confirmed that there was no Filipino passenger aboard a Taiwanese airliner that crashed late Wednesday night.

Trans-Asia Airways flight ATR-72 was carrying 58 passengers and crew when it crashed off a tiny island while trying to land during bad weather. At least 47 were reported killed and 11 others injured.

“Our representative office in Taiwan has confirmed that there were no Filipinos on board the Trans-Asia plane that crashed Wednesday,” Foreign Affairs spokesman Charles Jose said.

The crash also wrecked several houses and cars on the ground. (PNA) CTB/MDC/JSD
