No Cemetery Closure in Cebu City
Cebu City will stand with its decision to open cemeteries despite the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) order to close all cemeteries during Kalg-Kalag or All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day.
Cebu City Acting Mayor Michael Rama said that they will not follow the approved recommendation to close cemeteries in the city. Instead, they will push through with the laid-out guidelines they set for the observance of Kalag-Kalag in the city.
Cebu City will only allow fully vaccinated individuals to enter cemeteries during November 1 and November 2. The city will try to present its plan for Kalag-Kalag to IATF.
The DILG has approved the IATF Resolution No. 72 that only allows visiting of cemeteries before October 29 and after November 2. The resolution also allows only ten persons per group when visiting cemeteries.
The DILG and IATF have agreed to this resolution to prevent a super spreader event that could happen once crowds flock in cemeteries during the observance of Undas. (ASC)
