No Arrests Since Gun Ban Took Effect
The Talisay City Police chief revealed that no one was arrested in the city since the gun ban for the coming barangay election was implemented by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
“Yes, we have zero arrest. No one has been caught that would mean no one has, so far, violated the ban,” said Talisay City police acting
chief Supt. Resty Santos.
Santos, who was given a recognition by the City Council on Tuesday for the arrest of the robbery suspect and alleged gun-for-hire Joshua
Tabera, said he was glad with the situation and hoped it would stay so for the rest of the gun ban effectivity.
Santos said checkpoints are still conducted in different areas of the city to ensure no unauthorized carrying of gun can go unnoticed.
The gun ban for the coming October 28 election will be in effect from September 28 to November 12.
