NNC VII Recommence Monitoring Activities and Mentoring Program
National Nutrition Council Region VII (NNC R7) is set to resume nutrition mentoring program and monitoring activities in the region this year.
This is to provide technical support and ensure nutrition service continuity in the region as Central Visayas still combats the high prevalence of COVID-19 cases, NNC R7 deployed its technical staff to conduct a variety of monitoring activities in January 2021.
From observing the status of Nutrition Honor Awardees to the continued Local Nutrition Early Warning System for Food and Nutrition Security monitoring to Technical Assistance, Monitoring, and Evaluation in ECCD F1K areas, the first month of 2021 has certainly been productive for the region.
NNC R7 also deployed technical staff to conduct mentoring activity for nutrition workers who need technical assistance in their efforts to keep the nutrition program going.
In Cebu, Bogo City Nutrition Program Coordinator Rashelle S. Bentulan and Bogo City Barangay Nutrition Scholar Association President Greys S. Masong were the first to be mentored.
They were oriented on the MELLPI Pro tools and the interim guidelines for the conduct of the Operation Timbang Plus this year. They were also given technical support on case management of SAM and MAM.
Ms. Masong was also given technical assistance on possible sources of barangay nutrition funding and how to ensure the functionality of the barangay nutrition committees during the mentoring activity on 12 January 2021, by NO III Nasudi G. Soluta and ND II Shaira Camille T. Labastida.
NNC R7 is targeting to cover other local nutrition workers soon in this mentoring activity to boost nutrition program implementation efficiency and effectivity and urge local nutrition committees to remain functional despite the pandemic.
