Night Trips Now Available From Laoag to Five Tourists Spots this Summer
Laoag City (PIA) – Buses and jeepneys are now available even at night time from the Laoag capital to at least five tourist destination areas around Ilocos Norte beginning March 6.
Hourly night transport from Laoag to the towns of Pagudpud, Batac, Paoay, Dingras and Bacarra have been made available from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to service tourists who are expected to flock to the province during the summer break.
Governor Imee Marcos led the creation of the Metro Ilocos Norte Council Night Express (MINCNE) that will provide transportation to night commuters in the next six months or until August.
The new transport schedules are on experimental basis until August 31. Commuters will pay standard fares from Laoag to any of the tourist spots. The central terminal is located west of the provincial capitol.
The governor said the temporary public transport system is in line with her vision to improve transportation services in key economic zones of Ilocos Norte.
She noted transport difficulties for tourists, students and the general riding public at night time because most public transportation, except bus lines plying the Manila-Laoag-Pagudpud route, from Laoag to various destinations ends by 7 p.m. (MCA/FGL, PIA- 1 Ilocos Norte)
