NHA 7 to Build 2 Medium-Rise Bldg. in Lorega

The National Housing Authority (NHA)7 on Wednesday morning revealed they are going to construct another two medium-rise buildings in barangay Lorega, Cebu City next year.

Engr. Gavino O. Figuracion, NHA 7 Project Manager said each edifice has four storeys with a total of 87 units.

Figuracion said this will be constructed alongside with the existing buildings which are already occupied by the identified poorest of the poor city settlers.

This existing building is used to be a project of congressman Raul del Mar which was funded by his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

According to Figuracion the same lot is owned by the Cebu City government and the NHA7’s role is land development and construction of the said units.

He explained that based on the contract and agreement signed between the Cebu City government and NHA management, the NHA will develop the area and build roads which are accessible to the dwellers, water, and lights.

Until now they are on the process of assessment to determine the real amount to be incurred by the NHA office on the said projects, Figuracion said.

“At least however this is 90 per cent to be realized because of the LGU lot and the NHA is only to evaluate its total budget for the said project”, Figuracion added.

Figuracion also stated that the NHA is always there to support the LGU to lighten its burden from the thousands of illegal settlers who are living in undecent homes.

“Because we are also a government agency, we also ensure to have a better deal with the LGUs and other government agencies and offices for us to remain stand and support all the time the needs of the poor”, Figuracion told.

This means that the LGUs is responsible to pay anytime their settlers fail to pay regularly their monthly amortization to the NHA office. Figuracion also said there are a lot of NHA projects here in the region, aimed at helping the LGUs in streamlining their the livelihood and shelter needs of their constituents.
