NGCP Assures North Samar Provincial Officials to Restore Electricity by July 31
In a regular session of the Sanggguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Northern Samar on July 21, 2017, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines Spokesperson Atty. Cynthia Alabanza assured the provincial officials to restore full electricity by July 31 after transmission problem hampered electricity supply in quake-stricken areas.
Alabanza said NGCP is working 24/7 to repair the damaged transformers and relocate transformer from its Cebu substation just to transmit power to Leyte and the three Samar provinces.
She explained that 138/69 KV spare transformer from Cebu Substation is already in Ormoc since July 12 and this is for immediate unloading, installation, assembly, testing as well as commissioning to transmit another 135 KV at Ormoc Substation.
As of now, only Transformer 6 is functioning and they are trying to fix Transformer 1 and 2 to keep up and running by July 31 timeline, she added.
The province is still experiencing rotational brownout to ensure everyone is serviced by electricity. (ajc/TBC/pia8-northsamar)
