New Typhoon Zoraida Enters PAR
After the super typhoon Yolanda, another typhoon has entered the country. Typhoon Zoraida, the 23rd typhoon who entered in the country this year has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometer per hour (kph) near the center with a forecast to move West Northwest at 30 kph.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pag-asa) in its weather bulletin issued at 11am today November 11, 2013 Monday has said that typhoon Zoraida has maintained its strenght as it moves West Northwestward from its present location at 830 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur.
Pag-asa projected that by Tuesday morning November 12 the new typhoon will be at 160 km East Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. On Wednesday morning November 13 in the vicinity of Cuyo or 130 km West of Iloilo City. And on Thursday morning November 14 at 650 km West of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro or outside the Philippine Area of Responsbility (PAR).
Areas Having Public Storm Warning Signal as hoisted by Pag-asa for Signal No. 1 with 30-60 kph winds may be expected in at least 36 hours are Siquijor, Southern Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, Southern Negros Occidental, Dinagat Island, Siargao Island, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Samal Island, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental and Camiguin Island.
Meanwhile, the weather bulletin further states that an estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate – heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression. Sea travel is risky over the Northern seaboard of Northern Luzon and the Eastern seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon.
The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned, moreover, are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 PM today.
