New Rehab Center to Open in Pinamungajan
A rehabilitation center will open soon in the town of Pinamungajan in Cebu to help drug dependents fight their addiction.
The facility is called “New Life Center”.
The 106-bed capacity facility is situated in a 2,600 land where it also includes 18 psychiatric wards.
Out of the 106 regular beds, 50 of them is for male patients, and the other 50 is for female patients. The remaining beds are extra beds.
The rehab center was turned over by Globe Telecom to the Cebu Provincial Government on Wednesday, June 19 in Pinamungajan.
It was known that the rehab center will be fully operational within this year.
Globe Telecom’s Director for external affairs of Visayas and Mindanao, Patrick Gloria said that this project is a way of showing their support to the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
He stressed out that by opening this facility, they can help drug dependents fight off their addiction and start a new life.
Gloria added that the rehab center costs around P50 million pesos and was turned over to the Cebu Provincial Government so they can start the full implementation including general operations and supervision.
The rehab center also features a hotel-like reception area, nurse’s station, clinic, kitchen, dining room, garden and a recreation area.
Meanwhile, Manuel Pacholo Delos Santos, Cebu Provincial Anti-drug abuse office consultant, said that the moment the facility is operational, patients will have to spend 6 months for proper rehabilitation.
Patients can pay a minimum fee of P15,000 but it might increase depending on the situation.
However, the Cebu Provincial Government still needs to hire medical personnel and staff to officially open the facility. (MLC)
