New PDEA-7 Chief Wants a Drug-free Cebu
Newly-installed Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 Director Yogi Ruiz on Thursday said he wants Cebu to be drug-free.
“I’m from Cebu and I want Cebu to be drug-free,” Ruiz said.
Ruiz said PDEA will relentlessly pursue all the major drug personalities in Cebu and elsewhere in Central Visayas.
Ruiz said PDEA operatives are ready to “neutralize” drug personalities who will resist arrest.
“I hope they (drug suspects) will not resist arrest,” he said.
Earlier, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 said 35 suspected drug pushers were killed in police anti-narcotics operations in Central Visayas in the past 27 days.
Chief Supt. Noli Talino, PRO 7 director, said those who were killed resisted arrest or tried to engage in a shootout with the police.
Ruiz also said they will closely coordinate with the Philippine National Police in their anti-drug operations. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
