New LPA to Bring Rain Over Visayas-Mindanao
PAGASA on Friday warns of possible heavy rain over Visayas and Mindanao due to a new low-pressure area.
As of 10 a.m., PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 770 km east of Davao City.
It said the weather system is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms over Mindanao and Eastern and Central Visayas within 24 hours.
PAGASA said once the weather disturbance enters the PAR, it will be codenamed ‘Ruby’.
701 Still Stranded Due to TD Queenie
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coastguard reported that at least 701 people in Western Visayas are still stranded as of 10:30 am Friday due to bad weather conditions brought by Tropical Storm Queenie (international codename Sinlaku).
The Coast Guard added that 20 vessels, 168 rolling cargos and seven motor bancas are stranded.
Earlier today, PAGASA said Tropical Depression Queenie has intensified into a tropical storm before noon, but remains on its way to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Queenie is set to exit PAR Friday evening, PAGASA said.
In its 10:30 am update, PAGASA said Queenie was estimated at 220 km north-northwest of Puerto Princesa City in Palawan as of 10 am.
