New Delta Variant Cases Detected in CV
There are 16 new cases of the COVID-19 Delta Variant in Central Visayas, according to the Regional Epidemiological Surveillance Unit-7.
This report came from the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) after the genome sequencing of the 95 samples from the said region.
The samples were sent last August 8, 2021.
According to Regional Epidemiological Surveillance Unit-7 cluster head Dr. Eugenia Mercedes Cañal that their department already notified the concerned local government units (LGUs) for contact tracing.
The Department of Health 7 (DOH 7) did not reveal the areas with delta variant cases.
As of September 13, 2021, there are 261 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Central Visayas increasing the total active cases to 13,709.
Breakdown of new confirmed cases in Central Visayas:
Cebu City – 60 new cases
Lapu-Lapu City – 42 new cases
Mandaue City – 28 new cases
Cebu Province – 79 new cases
Bohol – 52 new cases
Meanwhile, the region also reported 1,021 recoveries (107,435 in total) and 55 new deaths (4,216 in total).
