New Champ For Dinagyang Festival 2016 Ati-Ati Tribe Competition Named
Tribu Salognon took the reign from the three-peat defending champion Tribu Panayanon in this year’s Ati-Ati Tribe Competition of the 2016 Dinagyang Festival and bagged the P200,000 cash prize and a trophy on Sunday.
Tribu Panayanon tried to defend its title with its very energetic, colorful, and crowd-pleasing performance. But some violations on the guidelines paved the way for Tribu Salognon’s well-choreographed performance to grab the coveted win.
Tribu Salognon’s performance told about a great warrior who was in love with the most beautiful woman in the place.
Tribu Salognon is managed by Jaro National High School’s Principal, Dr. Belinda Dinopol.
Aside from bagging the grand prize, the champion usually gets to represent Iloilo City in various cultural tours not only in the Philippines but also abroad.
Last year, Panayanon performed in South Korea and Japan while in previous years, Dinagyang had goodwill tours in the United States of America and Guam, among others.
Meanwhile, the other winners in the competition are Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial High School — first runner up; Tribu Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School — second runner up; Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School — third runner up; Tribu Baybabayanon of Melchor L. Nava National High School — fourth runner up.
The said winners received P150,000.00, P125,000.00, P100,000.00, and P75,000.00, respectively.
Other competing tribes were Tribu Buntag-Tala of Buntatala National High School, Tribu Atub-Atub of Mandurriao National High School, Tribu Obrero of Barrio Obrero Nahional High School, Tribu Dagatnon of Ramon Avanceña National High School, and Tribu Panayanon of Iloilo City National High School.
