New Attraction to Spice Up New Israel Eco Adventure Park in Makilala Town
The development of a new attraction at the New Israel Eco Adventure Park in the highlands of Makilala town is in the offing.
Local officials here had already finalized the plans for the establishment of a community vegetable garden at the park as an additional attraction for visitors.
The development, according to Mayor Rudy Caoagdan intends to increase the number of tourist to the eco-park and encourage them to come to the place more often. It also aims to push the municipality’s efforts as the vegetable capital of Cotabato Province.
The community garden would be managed by the 26-man crew of the eco-adventure park, as an additional attraction of the place aside from the zip line ride, the unique culture of the residents and the amazing community of Monkeys.
The LGU through the Municipal Agriculture and Services Office (MASO) would provide the necessary planting materials to the community to begin the said vegetable garden.
Mayor Caoagdan brought up the idea to showcase the potential of the members of the community in developing a vegetable garden that would help them improve their income out of the sales from their vegetables. Tourists could buy fresh vegetables from the community garden after experiencing other facilities of the area.
The LGU also planned to refurbish the old church structure of the Alpha and Omega Crusaders to preserve the symbolism of the culture of the residents of Barangay New Israel, who are also devotees of the said religious sect.
Also in the list of infrastructure development include the concreting of the circumferential road leading to the eco-adventure park and other infrastructure projects that the LGU plans to pursue to increase the number of visitors to the area.
The Provincial Government of Cotabato turned over the management and operation of the zip line project to LGU Makilala after three years of operation. This has generated a close to P8 Million gross income in June. (ACAgad PIA 12 with reports from OCDeseo-LGU Makilala)
