NegOr Sends Augmentation Police to Cebu City
The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) has sent a total of 50 cops to help the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) enforce strict enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) measures to stem the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) there.
Maj. Miguel Andeza, NOPPO chief of the Provincial Operation Management Unit, said that a send-off ceremony was held Friday afternoon at Camp Francisco Fernandez in Agan-an, Sibulan town for the 2nd batch of 25 police personnel.
He said the first batch of 25 policemen was sent early this week.
All are male police officers coming from the NOPPO’s 1st and 2nd companies of the Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), he added.
Andeza reassured that even with the deployment of the augmentation forces to Cebu City, police activities here concerning peace-keeping and anti-criminality operations will not be hampered. After all, the Provincial Mobile Force companies are “support units” and not assigned to police stations in the towns and cities, he said.
The duration of the stay of the NOPPO personnel in Cebu City is indefinite, depending on the Covid-19 situation there, he added.
Andeza also assured the public here that the assigned policemen, once they reurn, will be subjected to health protocols such as the mandatory 14-day quarantine. (PNA)
