Published

on

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reminds local government officials in Eastern Visayas to prepare their inhabitants for approaching Typhoon Hagupit, GMA News Online reported.

Alexander Pama, NDRRMC executive director, likewise advised local disaster management units to coordinate with local governments to monitor coastal areas for storm surges. He also instructed local disaster risk reduction and management offices to monitor areas for possible preemptive evacuation, report said.

The NDRRMC will monitor the progress of Hagupit, which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility Thursday, Pama said.

Once Hagupit enters the PAR, it will be locally codenamed Ruby.

PAGASA advised residents in Bicol and eastern Visayas and Mindanao to prepare for the typhoon’s effects.
