NDRRMC: Families in Parts of Mindanao Evacuated Due to Seniang

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday that families in parts of Mindanao were preemptively evacuated due to bad weather conditions from Tropical Storm Seniang.

In its 8 a.m. update, reported over GMA News Online, the council said some local government units are also keeping watch over water levels of local rivers.

Among the local government units that conducted preemptive evacuation were:

Veruela in Agusan del Sur
Tago in Surigao del Sur
Hinatuan in Surigao del Sur
Tandag City, Surigao del Sur

Report said preemptively evacuated communities included those in landslide-prone areas and low-lying areas along riverbanks, shorelines and island barangays.

Earlier evacuated as early as Saturday were Mokayo, Montevista, New Bataan and Nabunturan in Compostela Valley, reports added.

The Butuan City disaster risk reduction and management council operations center is monitoring the water level in Agusan River, GMA News Online reported.

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils in Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley activated their operations centers.

Report added that the Department of Health in Caraga is on standby and has pre-positioned P1.472 million.
