NDRRMC: Agriculture, Infrastructure Damage of ‘Odette’ Now Over P25-B
The damage caused by the onslaught of Typhoon Odette on December to the agriculture industry and infrastructure has now reached PHP25 billion, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Agricultural damages in the regions of Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen and Caraga amounted to more than PHP7.7 billion, while infrastructure damage in the regions of Mimaropa, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has topped PHP17.5 billion, according to the latest report of the state disaster council.
Moreover, 606,861 houses were damaged in Mimaropa, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen, Caraga and the BARMM.
Of the damaged houses, 422,797 were classified as partially damaged, while a total of 184,064 houses as totally damaged.
Meanwhile, confirmed casualties due to the typhoon now stands at 76 deaths and 74 injuries. Nine are confirmed missing.
Unconfirmed casualties that are still going through validation stands at 331 deaths, 1,073 injured, with 69 missing. (GFB)
