NATO Secretary General Condemns North Korea’s Test Launch of Missile – Statement
Moscow (Sputnik) — NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg slammed Pyongyang for firing a missile on Wednesday, which dropped in the Japanese exclusive economic zone in the Sea of Japan, according to a press release.
Earlier in the day, the South Korean military registered North Korea launching a ballistic missile presumed to be a Rodong with a range of 1,000 kms (621 miles) from the province of Hwanghae-Namdo in the direction of the Sea of Japan.
“I strongly condemn North Korea’s ballistic missile test today, which caused one missile to land in Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone,” Stoltenberg said, as quoted in the press release.
NATO also called on North Korea to swiftly cease all nuclear and ballistic activities violating UN Security Council resolutions and refrain from undermining global security by its provocative actions.
North Korea is currently under huge diplomatic pressure since its January nuclear test and a long-range rocket launch in February, which resulted in tightening sanctions against Pyongyang in the new UN Security Council resolution in March. (PNA/Sputnik) RMA/RSM
