Native trees exhibit in Gabii sa Kabilin

Published

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) GREENIN Philippines Program will hold an exhibit of rare and endangered Philippine native tree species at the Casa Gorordo Museum during the 7th Gabii sa Kabilin on May 31 from 6 p.m. to midnight.

The exhibit aims to promote the protection and propagation of local tree species, one of the country’s national heritage.

A fun twist to the exhibit is a trivia game, which can be enjoyed by young and old alike, revolving around the info-materials found in the exhibit and the museum. Native tree seedlings will be given away as prizes.

The Generation Redemption, and Expansion of Natural Resources Initiatives in the Philippines (GREENIN) Program aims for environmental sustainability by reversing the loss of environmental resources through the utilization of native tree species in its interventions in restoring and rehabilitating degraded forests and idle lands.

GREENIN Philippines Program is one of the programs under RAFI’s Integrated Development focus area. Other focus areas of the Foundation are Micro-finance & Entrepreneurship, Culture & Heritage, Leadership & Citizenship, and Education.
