Nash Ang’s Yolanda Docu “Paraiso” Impresses Film Enthusiasts At The 7th ECOCUP Festival In Moscow
Nash Ang, one of the country’s promising directors, garnered positive reviews from film enthusiasts in Moscow for his skillful direction of his documentary film on Yolanda survivors titled “Paraiso”, which was featured at the 7th ECOCUP International Green Documentary Film Festival held on Feb. 25-29, 2016.
A ‘direct cinema’ documentary, Paraiso is the first ever Filipino film to have been included in this annual environmental movie fest.
It was screened, along with thirteen other documentaries from the USA, Italy, Israel, Finland, India, Germany and Serbia, in various locations in Moscow such as the Center for Documentary Film (CDF) and Bukvodom in Sokolniki Park.
While in Moscow, Nash Ang was conferred for the second time the Ani ng Dangal Award (Harvest of Honors) by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) for Paraiso that won the Best Film Award at the 21st CineEco Festival in Portugal last year.
Nash Ang’s participation in the ECOCUP festival is part of the Embassy’s commemorative activities on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Russia. It was made possible with the support of the NCCA led by Chairman Felipe M. de Leon, Jr. and OIC-Executive Director Adelina Suemith.
The ECOCUP Green Documentary Film Festival is a member of the Green Film Network. It offers a venue for green artists, designers, photographers and ecologically-aware audience to engage each other and exchange views on environmental issues.(PNA) RMA/PR/EDS
