NAIA Expressway Christmas Lane Opens Today
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) opened Wednesday a partial segment of the NAIA Expressway (NAIA-X) Christmas Lane which would provide access from Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard to NAIA Terminal 3 and Skyway.
The NAIA-X Christmas Lane, which is the first phase of the project, is expected to reduce travel time by at least 40%, according to the DPWH.
Construction is ongoing for its second section that would provide easier access to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
“This will greatly help our public for the Christmas season as this will further improve traffic flow,” DOTr Sec. Arthur Tugade said as he led the final inspection and ceremonial opening of the expressway with DPWH Sec. Mark Villar.
For his part, Sec. Villar expects that full access of the NAIA Expressway will be completed by the first quarter of 2017.
The PHP 20.45-billion NAIA Expressway Project is a four-lane, 12.65-kilometer elevated expressway and 2.22-kilometer at-grade traversing Sales Avenue, Andrews Avenue, Paranaque River, MIAA Road and Diosdado Macapagal Blvd.
After all phases are completed, the Expressway Project is expected to provide easy access to and from NAIA Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4 and will interface with SLEX through Sales interchange, Manila Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX), and Macapagal Blvd. (PNA)FPV/ABP
