Naga Unveils New Program
To improve delivery of its basic services to the people, the City of Naga on Tuesday unveiled “Naga Akong Garbo” (NAGa), a program committed to give “effective and efficient implementation” of the city’s long-term goals “for sustainable development.”
“Its primary objective is to continue and improve the delivery of basic services to its constituents through the implementation of effective socio-economic and infrastructure projects; proper management of its natural and man-made resources; maintenance of peace and order and strengthening of ties with various government agencies and private sectors,” a statement issued by the city said.
Local officials led by Mayor Valdemar Chiong and Vice Mayor Delfin Senor and their councilors, placed their painted palms on the white wall, then followed by representative of various private and public sectors.
Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, who was part of the ceremonial unveiling ceremony, said NAGa is a subproject of the province’s “Our Cebu” program (formerly the expanded Green and Wholesome Environment that Nurtures or eGWEN) which evaluates the performance of all participating local government units through a score card system.
Winners of this program get P1 million, P750,000 and P500,000, for the first, second and third prizes, respectively.
