Some 1,835 job seekers attended the overseas job fair organized by Public Employment Service Office (PESO) at the Capitol building Sunday.

Some of the applicants have applied in more than one job opening on that day.

There were 2,715 applications that are just waiting for the employer’s approval through the recruitment agencies.

The job fair was supported by 28 recruitment agencies accredited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). They provided 21,653 job opportunities to the job seekers.

However, 465 applications were rejected on the day.

“Some of the applicants did not qualify for the jobs they are applying for and some lack the experience,” said PESO Labor and Employment Officer Julius Chua.

There were two agencies that hired 36 applicants on the spot.

Some needed jobs for abroad are construction workers, domestic helpers, skilled and technical workers, hoteliers, IT personnel, and medical and hospital workers, among others.

Services from Social Security Services (SSS), PHILHEALTH, National Statistics Office (NSO), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office were also offered during the job fair.

On May 1, PESO will be holding again a local job fair in partnership with some national agencies.

Chua encouraged applicants to register as early as March so that they can be screened on April 30.

PESO will be listing the first 300 screened applicants so that on the day of the job fair they will be attended first.
