More Aid Sent to Cebu City in Fight Against COVID-19
More help has arrived in Cebu City in the form of personal protective equipment (PPE), face masks, vitamins, laptop computers as well as financial assistance as the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to wreak havoc in the city.
The aid was donated by the House of Representatives and was delivered by Congressman Pablo John Garcia of Cebu’s 7th District, 5th District Rep. Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco and Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia Frasco. The aid was received by Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella in a simple turnover rite.
Cebu City received 2,000 sets of PPE, 200 non-contact infrared thermometers, 10 Lenovo laptop computers for contact tracing and data gathering, 200 boxes of Vitamin C, and Zinc for frontliners and 50 packs of Ziplock, all worth PHP2.5 million.
The House of Representatives also donated a PHP1 million check to the city government.
The aid sent was mainly to provide for the frontliners in the fight against COVID-19 and to help in rebuilding livelihood, according to Congressman Garcia.
“The leadership of the House of Representatives, led by our beloved Speaker, Alan Peter Cayetano, turnover the House’s help to the City of Cebu not only in this collective fight against the Covid-19 menace and also in order to help rebuild lives and livelihood that have been shattered by the disease,” Garcia said.
Mayor Labella expressed Cebu City’s gratitude in House Speaker Cayetano for the gestures and recognizes that Cayetano has helped the city numerous times already particularly during the earthquake of 2013.
“On behalf of the City Government, it is my pleasure and privilege to receive these bundles of assistance and help coming from the good speaker of the house. I remember vividly that this is not the first time that the good speaker has shown his concern for the people of the city of Cebu. Kindly relay to the good speaker our most heartfelt gratitude to him and of course to Senator Pia and to your fellow workers in Congress for this very kind gesture that you have extended to the people of Cebu,” said Mayor Labella.
Cebu City has also received help recently from J&T Express with the latest being from Senator Win Gatchalian. (GFB)
