MoneyGram Wins the Asian Banker’s Technology Innovation Award
After undergoing stringent evaluation under the Technology Innovation Awards’ program, MoneyGram (NASDAQ: MGI) was awarded Best Governance Risk and Compliance Project by the Asian Banker. The Technology Innovation Awards recognizes innovative solutions that demonstrate technology’s role in delivering significant benefits to the financial services and banking industry.
“After having received the Asian Banker Award in the Remittance product of the year category in 2015 and 2016, we are honored that, this year, the jury also recognized our significant compliance efforts and best practices in technology implementations and innovations,” said Yogesh Sangle, MoneyGram’s head of Asia Pacific.
“MoneyGram continues to advance its leadership in global compliance by implementing market-leading systems, technology and processes. The Asian Banker Award is an important recognition of our efforts to develop best-in-class compliance solutions that protect customers using our money transfer services around the globe,” added Sangle.
This year the jury received over 185 projects, including the implementation of a Compliance Reporting Portal (CRP) submitted by MoneyGram and ultimately awarded in the ‘Best Governance Risk and Compliance Project’ category.
“Thanks to immediate access to the portal, agents can analyze the transactions for potential suspicious activities and help us fight against them more effectively,” said Toby Fowler-Oates, MoneyGram’s head of compliance, AMEAP.
“What’s more, the system brings significant operational efficiency through the automation of reports. This was a global, multi-phase project that took several months to complete but was well worth it,” added Fowler-Oates.
The Award was handed over during a ceremony which took place in conjunction with The Future of Finance Summit in Singapore (previously known as The Asian Banker Summit), Asia’s largest annual gathering of thought leaders and decision makers. This event brings together delegates from over 32 countries to explore, discuss, and share their knowledge on the future of the financial services industry.
