MoA Signed to Relocate Families Affected by LRT1 Extension
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was recently signed between the Provincial Government of Cavite for the turnover of the housing units for informal settlers affected by the LRT Line 1 Extension, Operation, and Maintenance Project and the acceptance of the same by the Province of Cavite.
Around 1,820 housing units were built at the 20.9 hectares located at Barangay Santiago, General Trias with community facilities such as a hospital, school, market, and related facilities.
The PGC will manage the relocation site as well as the informal settlers to be relocated.
To date a total of 484 families were already relocated and an additional 500 families from Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Bacoor, Cavite that will be affected by the alignment of the Cavite Extension Project are scheduled to be relocated soon.
The clearing of right-of-way from informal settlers is necessary to give way for the construction of the 11.7 kilometer line that will extend the existing LRT-1 from Baclaran to Niog in Bacoor, Cavite.
The said project will add eight more stations to the existing line and is projected to increase LRT-1 ridership from the current average daily ridership of 500,000 to 800,000.
