MJ Lastimosa Falls Short of Top Five of Miss Universe Pageant

Philippines bet Mary Jean Lastimosa fell short of her announced goal to grab the crown as the first Filipina Miss Universe, as she failed to make an entry to the Top Five of the pageant held in Miami, Florida on Sunday (Monday morning PHL time).

The Cotabato beauty, however, made it through the final 15 and final 10, but advancing no more.

The 27-year-old ended her campaign wearing a white mermaid dress designed by Colombian Alfredo Barazza during the evening gown segment of the competition, GMA News Online reported.

Entering the top five are USA, Netherlands, Ukraine, Jamaica, and Colombia.

Lastimosa earlier hoped to follow the footsteps of Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973.

The pageant in Miami, Florida was full of Filipino flavor with ring icon Manny Pacquiao headlining the list of judges.
