Mistreated Women OFWs Receive Stress Debriefing from OWWA 12

Some 30 distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from the Soccsksargen region joined Wednesday a one-day Critical Incidence Stress Debriefing (CISD) from Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

OWWA 12 officer-in-charge Christelyn Caceres said the selected participants were victims of various forms of abuses and maltreatment in their workplace overseas.

Caceres encouraged the participants to use their personal sentiments as an inspiration to start a new life in the country after the unbearable experiences in the hands of their employers.

“You may have experienced unfortunate circumstances abroad but always remember that you have your family, friends and God with you,” Caceres said.

The CISD is necessary to help distressed OFWs to cope with the trauma they experienced while working in foreign shores.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development also provided a one-on-one counseling to ensure that the experience of each participant will be given enough time and attention.

The stress debriefing formed part of the agency’s 2019 Women’s Month Celebration. (ORVRivera-PIA 12 with report from OWWA 12)
