Miss Earth Salutes COP 21
Keeping in mind the ideals of COP21 (2015 Paris Climate Conference) which will take place in Paris from December 07 to 08 and with ardent hopes for the achievement of a legally binding and universal agreement on climate, with the aim of keeping global warming below 2°C, Ms. Earth 2014, Filipina Jamie Herrell, together with Ms. Earth Belgium 2015 Elizabeth Dwomoh, planted trees at the Embassy garden on November 12.
The tree planting coincided with Miss Earth’s courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Belgium Victoria Bataclan. During the visit, Miss Earth National Director Ashlejane Alcancia informed the Embassy that the visions of COP21 are actually the objectives of Miss Earth, a pageant dedicated to the promotion of environmental awareness and the protection of Mother Earth.
Ambassador Bataclan, herself a staunch advocate of environmental protection, expressed appreciation for the visit and the tree planting activity and also expressed the hope that COP21 will be a successful undertaking.
Other members of the Miss Earth delegation are Ashlejane Alcancia, National Director for Miss Earth Philippines Ron Stevens of Ms. Earth Belgium and Mr. Butch Alcancia, a community leader.
The delegation is en route to Vienna, Austria where the Miss Earth 2015 Pageant will be held on December 05.
