Miss Earth 2014 Looks Back at Humble Start
Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell returns here to acknowledge her humble beginnings as a “dancing waitress” of Hikay, a restaurant operating at Calyx Center, IT Park in Barangay Lahug.
The second Cebuana to have been crowned the said title used to dance for birthday bashes and other important events run by Calyx Retail Unit operations manager Bruce Bollozos.
“I’m so excited to come home. It feels good to meet again old friends. I have always been thankful that I started here. I remember those days. Winning a beauty title was not really on my mind but so many people encourage me to try it. I feel so blessed to have been surrounded by people who believe so much in what I can do,” Herrell said in a brief program.
Among those who honed Herrell to the top are local fashion icons Marlon Wafer and Jonas Borces, her pretty mother Snowy Herrell and supportive sister Crystal.
Herrell made it a point to come home to wind up at her hometown of Masbate before she begins work for the Miss Earth organization.
The very first Cebuana to win this crown, first Philippine representative and first in the Asian region, is Karla Paula Gentiroy Henry in 2008. (Maria Eleanor E. Valeros)
