Miracles Come in Different Sizes
Miracles come in different sizes. God is not only in the wonderful miracles like major healings but God sends us small, but equally wonderful, miracles…we only have to SEE them as miracles.
When I wake up at night and I see my husband sleep beside me, I thank God that I have the man I love lying beside me.
When I look at the mirror and I see that I’m due to dye my hair again, I thank God that I’ve reached this age, relatively healthy and definitely happy.
When I get stuck in traffic while bringing Sarah to school, I thank God that I have a car to drive and I can spend some bonding time with her while stuck in traffic.
When I feel the ache in my joints trying to follow Maki around, I thank God we have Maki.
When I have to find ways to stretch our food budget, I thank God that I have something to stretch and that all the kids are eating well.
When I see the bills piled up on Em’s table, I thank God that we have bills to pay, which means we have utilities that make our life comfortable. And I thank God that He provides so we can pay those bills.
When I feel stressed over work, knowing I would have to sleep late again to finish it, I thank God that we have work to do, and that I have my Starbucks coffee to keep me awake.
These past few weeks, my hair has been falling a lot, but I thank God that I can find comfort, knowing that the Bible tells us that even the hairs of our head are numbered!
Small things, seemingly insignificant things, even the annoying, irritating things …I choose to see God’s hand in them, and so they become miracles.
One of my favorite prayers is in Psalm 143: “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.”
You see, God allows me to wake up every morning so that I can see Him in whoever I meet and whatever happens, then know how much He loves me.
Albert Einstein once said:
“There are only two ways to live . . . one is as though nothing is a miracle. . . the other is as if everything is.”
