Minors Rescued from Prostitution

The City Intelligence Branch (CIB)of the Cebu City Police Office Wednesday rescued four minors aged 13 to 14 from prostitution.

Chief Inspector Romeo Santander, CIB chief, said they were surprised to learn that the pimp or “bugaw” of the group was also a minor. Santander said they were acting on the information they received from concerned citizens and Children’s Legal Bureau of minors being prostituted in Juana Osmeña St., Barangay Mabolo.

Santander said each of these minors would ask between P1,500 to P2,500 per client, an information they got after communicating with them through text messaging. On Tuesday night the CIB finally made a round-up operation and rescued the girls, who are students of a public night high school.

Santander said they believed that an adult person is behind the illegal activity.
