Mild Quake Hits Indian Capital

New Delhi — A 3.7-magnitude earthquake hit the Indian capital and its adjoining areas on Monday, a senior disaster management official said.

However, there had been no reports of any casualty or damage to properties so far, he said.

“The quake was felt around 3 p.m. local time ( 1000 GMT) in Delhi and neighboring areas of Haryana state in northern India. It was measured at a depth of 16 km,” the official said.

The epicenter of the quake was Mahendragarh, some 120 km from the national capital, he said.

Disaster management officials were assessing any damage to properties, the official added. (PNA/Xinhua) RMA/EDS
