Metro Gaisano Opens New Outlet in Carmen Town
A chain of supermarkets opened a new store in Carmen town, Cebu, on Tuesday with the promise to continue providing buyers with cheaper products.
Christian Nervegno, managing director for supermarket of Metro Retail Group, said the new Metro supermarkets are “modern retail stores” where the buyers can have the comforts when buying and still get cheaper prices for the goods.
“In the Philippines, the markets are not yet modern. Metro Gaisano now wants to change that by providing modern markets for the C and D classes,” Nervegno said.
The new Metro Supermarket is a one-story building that sits in a 1,800-square-meter lot.
Mayor Martin Villamor said the new market will add to their annual income via the real property tax. Also, Villamor said it means jobs for his people, as they have an outstanding agreement that the store will hire at least 60 percent of its employees from Carmen.
Nervegno said at least eight more Metro stores will be opened in Cebu this year. The first was in Colon St., Cebu City, and the one in Carmen are their second. By June, another Metro supermarket will be opened in Carcar City.
