The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-7), recently held a mentoring program and seminar for entrepreneurs on July 15 at Robinsons Galleria, Cebu City.

The ‘Mentor Me’ program aims to help micro and small entrepreneurs scale up their businesses through the coaching and mentoring of business owners, practitioners, and experts on different areas of entrepreneurship.

“We all know that Cebuanos have an inherent trait of an entrepreneur,” said Micro and Small Enterprises (MSME) Development Advisor Merly M. Cruz of Go Negosyo.

Cruz said that their common goal is inclusive growth that benefits the MSME as sustainable suppliers and distributors of the medium and large enterprises.

“MSME anchored on large firms will bring in tangible improvement in the lives of the poor, the unemployed, and even the underemployed,” she said.

“We are here to tell you that all problems have solutions. Be comforted by the reality that no enterprise has ever been without problems and challenges. We hope you will all be with us in this endeavour. We are here to serve you and enable you,” Cruz told the crowd of around 250 MSMEs who participated in the seminar.

One of the participating entrepreneurs is Michael James Lora, 29, from Barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City, who sees himself benefitting from the mentoring program.

“As a newbie entrepeneur, the program will definitely help me grow my business. It will allow me to look beyond the box, the boundaries that I am presently in. Thank you so much Go Negosyo,” he said.

Go Negosyo Angelpreneurs Efren “Ping” Sotto, Vix Madlangbayan, and Armand Bengco also talked in the seminar about an entrepreneur’s mindset and values formation, marketing, and financial literacy.
