Worsening traffic hampers Cebu City’s development
The heavy traffic being experienced in Metro Cebu everyday specifically in Cebu City hampers the city’s development, according to Mega Cebu. Moreover, the city loses at least P132 million a day due to the worsening traffic conditions in Metro Cebu, according to a study made by Japan International Cooperating Body (JICA) six years ago.
Slow developing projects costing the city
Cebu City now faces more traffic problems through certain government projects that are supposed to curb the traffic problem once finished. The underpass project in Mambaling is now facing tough backlash and criticism for the heavy traffic it causes everyday which greatly affects students and the workforce in terms of travel time. A 30-minute travel time from Talisay City to Cebu City now takes more or less 2-3 hours every rush hour. The project, which is a couple hundred meters in distance, is slated to be finished in 2020.
