Meet the World’s First Wireless Scanner Mouse – Zcan Wireless
Hong Kong based company Design to Innovation (DTOI) has created portable scanner called Zcan Wireless, designed as a standard optical mouse and packs a miniaturized scanner, enabling users to instantly scan images and text.
Touted as the world’s first wireless scanner mouse, Zcan Wireless communicates wirelessly via 2.4 GHz frequency when used as a mouse and connects to a computer via Wi-Fi for scanning. It is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery.
The device works very simple. Just swipe the mouse over a document or image, and then the scanned document will appear instantly on the user’s monitor. Each completed scan will allow users to import it straight to Excel and text, allowing them to be editable, and can be shared to social pages.
It also supports over 199 OCR (Optical Character Recognition) languages, a feature which when linked to Google Translate, scanned words are translated into different languages and also translated to speech.
Zcan Wireless is compatible with Windows 7 and 8, Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, third-gen iPad and second-gen iPad Mini, with iPhone 5/5s support slated for the end of the year.
Currently, Zcan Wireless is an Indiegogo project aiming to raise US$30,000 to bring it to market. An early pledge of $79 will have one Zcan Wireless mouse which will ship in October.
