MCIAA Aims to Upgrade Bantayan Island Airport
The Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) plans to make the Bantayan Island Airport a commercial airport to boost island’s tourism.
The airport is located in the town of Sta. Fe.
Recently, MCIAA headed by its General Manager Atty. Steve Dicdican signed an agreement with Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia stating that the MCIAA will be responsible for the facility’s general operations.
The facility is also considered to be an airstrip or a community airport where only small planes or propeller-run planes can use it.
Dicdican said that they are now planning to upgrade and develop the airport so that commercial planes can soon use it.
He added that they need to construct everything from the communications and terminal building that will cost at around P4 million.
Alos, the current 900 meters runway will be extended into a 1.2 kilometer runway which will cost P94 million. (MLC)
