MCDCB Pushes for Metro Cebu Dev’t Authority Creation
Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board (MCDCB) pushed for the approval of an executive order creating Mega Cebu Development Authority (MCDA).
This was discussed during the 1st Quarter Meeting of MCDCB held at the Capitol on March 18, 2019.
MCDCB recognizes the need to establish MCDA to formulate, coordinate, regulate and monitor the short, medium, and long term plans, policies, and programs for the sustainable development and integration of Metropolitan Cebu Area.
The establishment of MCDA is cohesive with Mega Cebu 2050 vision of a Wholesome, Advanced, Vibrant, Equitable, and Sustainable (WAVES) Cebu.
MCDA will act as the overall body to oversee services that have multi-local government unit or metropolitan wide coverage such as integrated infrastructure development and planning, transport and traffic management across Metro Cebu, solid waste disposal, water, septage, sewerage, storm water, and disaster risk reduction and management.
It will also execute the Mega Cebu development strategy of competitiveness, livability, mobility, and metropolitan management, and implementing the Metropolitan Cebu roadmap and other subsequent and related roadmaps.
The City and Municipal Development Council has also expressed its support in the creation of MCDA through a resolution which states that the council deems it necessary to create a body that would further enhance and strengthen local autonomy and countryside development and that the council gives its support to the approval of the executive order.
