As part of the 49 th Charter Day celebration of Mandaue City this August and to nurture the growth and development of the business sector, the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) will hold its annual flagship event, the Mandaue Business Month (MBM) 2018.

The series of events are geared toward the theme, “Breaking Boundaries. Defying Limits”. They are designed to promote sustainable and socially-responsible entrepreneurship and strategically position Mandaue City as an attractive destination for business and investment. These events were presented during the Launching and Press Conference of MBM 2018 on July 27 at Maayo Hotel in Mandaue City.

“MCCI has welcomed into its fold businesses from every sector of the country’s economy, some coming from the exteriors of the city. This is a strong validation that MCCI is identifiable by its forward-looking attitude, unobstructed by geographical boundaries,” said MCCI President Stanley Go, explaining the MBM 2018 theme.

“In a period when industries are confronted by global challenges, the MCCI, as a ground for economic growth, pushes its members to defy and transcend their own limits, to strengthen their capabilities, to integrate innovations into their businesses, and to pursue their goals that are grounded on sustainable and socially-responsible entrepreneurship,” said Go.

The MBM Launch and Press Conference will be followed by the Eco Park Inauguration on August 1 when MCCI will inaugurate the solar lamps donated to the Mandaue City Eco Park. On August 4, MCCI will hold the Trees Brew Life, an annual tree-planting initiative organized between MCCI and San Miguel Brewery Incorporated (SMB) and participated in by MCCI member-companies.

From August 1 to 31, MCCI and job website Mynimo.com in partnership with the Mandaue City government will run Let’s Work in Mandaue campaign, an online job fair that showcases Mandaue City’s vibrant job market. It will feature more than 600 job vacancies from MCCI’s member-companies and other leading establishments.

Through another partnership with SMB, MCCI will hold on August 10-11 the Men in Business (MIB), a micro-enterprise development initiative targeted at male residents of Mandaue City who are heads of families, displaced from work, and do not have the chance to get a regular job. The MIB Finale will take place on August 20.

This will be followed by the Disaster Preparedness Seminar: Basic Life Support Course in partnership with the Emergency Response Unit Foundation on August 15.

On August 18, MCCI, in partnership with San Carlos University, is supporting the Cebu Digital Marketing Competition, which aims to encourage senior high school and undergraduate students enrolled in the second semester of the academic year 2017-2018 to capture firsthand tourism-related information of selected municipalities and develop a creative promotional campaign using digital media.

To showcase Mandaue City as an investment destination, MCCI in partnership with Mandaue City government will also hold an Investment Forum.

On August 23, MBM 2018 will feature the MCCI Business Summit, a one-day learning event where high-powered speakers will share their knowledge and expertise on business and corporate excellence to help and inspire around 500 participants coming from business, government, non-government organizations, and other agencies.

On September 8, MCCI will organize the Himsug Mandaue Medical-Dental Mission at the Mandaue Sports Complex where equitable and effective health care services (surgical and dental) will be provided to indigent Mandauehanons. The MBM 2018 will culminate with the MCCI Chamber Gala Night Awards at Oakridge Pavilion on September 13 when MCCI will give out awards to five business personalities, products, places, and companies.

After the culmination, MBM 2018-related events will still be pursued, such as the Gawad Linaw Awards, the search for companies in Mandaue City with the outstanding labor practices, on September 28 at the Oakridge Pavilion. The Awards aim to recognize the efforts and programs of companies that give premium to employee-employer relationship and to the promotion of industrial peace in the city.

On October 5-7, MCCI will hold the Bakery World, the first exhibition focused on baking and food service industry in the Visayas region, at the J Center Convention Hall.
