MCCI Launches Mandaue Business Month’ 13
The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) officially launched its Mandaue Business Month 2013 last July 12 at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC).
With this year’s theme, “Be fit. Be connected. Be ahead.”, MCCI goes inspiring as it aims to engage ‘change’ for the positive development of the city it represents in particular and the Cebu province in general.
Events such as an Opening Salvo on August 2 at the Mandaue Bridge Park, Business Summit on August 16 featuring distinguished guest speakers Senator-elect Paolo “Bam” Aquino and Dra. Vicky Belo of the Belo Medical Group among others at the CICC, and the Mandaue Anti-Dengue Day distributing larvicides to the different barangays on August 17, are set to materialize the Chamber’s end-goal.
“Trees Brew Life”, a tree planting activity, is also scheduled on August 17, while Social Security Services (SSS) pensioners will be treated with health and beauty pampering sessions for free on August 22. It will then be followed by a Surgical and Dental Mission on August 24. Both events will be held at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
One of the highlights of this year’s business month celebration and the first as mentioned by MCCI President Philip Tan, is the MCCI’s Best, to be held on August 29. The event will showcase different member entrepreneurs of MCCI, their respective success stories, best practices, and points on their businesses’ financial and environmental management areas. The competition also will not only base on the businessmen’s achievements but likewise will check their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSRs) as well. It is headed by Tan and Mynimo.com’s Wesley Chiongbian.
Altogether in this year’s theme, the “Be fit” aspect boasts of one of those awaited happenings in the MBM, the “Lose 2 Win” grand finals, a 60-day program being participated now by contestants who are aspiring for that wellness they have come to realize now. In this event a team of five can win in terms of overall fitness. Grand finals will be on September 5 at the Insular Square Mall.
These and all together with other events, the third Search for W.I.N.N.E.R.S (Women In Need Now of Entrepreneurs and Rolemodels) on August 20, Men in Business, Investors Forum, Business Seminars, and finally capping the month-long jubilee, the Gala Night at The New Oakridge Pavilion on September 6.
Event committee Chairpersons Mark Ynoc, Vicky Dy, MBM ’13 Chair Girlie Garces, Chamber President Tan, Michelle Co, Clayton Tugonon and Stanley Go sat before the members of the media last Friday to shed light on the business month events.
The presscon was then followed by a zen-themed dinner followed by the induction of the MCCI Board of Trustees. Among those present to support MCCI’s event were Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, Cebu Governor-elect Hilario Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale. The night ended with a photo opportunity and wine toasting among the Chamber member and guests.
